Fireworks Scares Horse from MI Farm

ST. JOHNS, MI, Monday, July 6, 2015—Tuesday, June 30, 2015  the Helgren family’s beloved  horse was standing in their yard when the sun went down. Wednesday morning there was no trace of the horse. He’d vanished into thin air.

Amy Helgren asked Stolen Horse International for assistance in locating their horse VBF River Run, aka Finneas, a 4 year old red chocolate (light brown/tan)  Rocky Mountain gelding, who is believed to have run away becaue of fireworks in the area. The family has  filed a missing horse report with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and Clinton County Animal Control.

Stolen Horse International, a nonprofit organization also know as NetPosse.com, is well known as the “lost and found’ place for horses on the internet for the equine industry. NetPosse.com offers horse theft  and equine ID education and assist  in search and recovery of  stolen or missing horses, as well as other equine equipment.

“My beautiful light red chocolate Rocky Mountain Horse with blonde/flaxen mane and tail has been missing too long.”, says Amy Helgren.  “He broke out of his pasture after being frightened by an overhead fireworks display. His mane hair was found on a farmer's pasture fence on July 4th,  about seven miles southwest of our farm.”

On July 6, 2015, Stolen Horse International, Inc. received the first online report on its web site, www.NetPosse.com, filed by Helgren and, in short order, began distributing the information via their NetPosse Alert (the horse community’s Amber Alert) on the Internet to hundreds of social media groups and private email contacts in an effort to rally the public to help the family.

“There are many unanswered questions that pop into mind but the most important one is, where is Finneas? We hope you will help the Helgren family answer that question,” says Debi Metcalfe, founder of the organization.

Helgren further states, “I bought Finneas last year from Van Burt Farm in Kentucky to enable me to continue riding after recent hip and knee replacement surgeries. I'm devastated and concerned about his welfare. I just want him to be safe and unharmed. I want him to come home.”

You will find Finneas’ webpage with information and a printable flyer in her NetPosse.com listing, which is where any updates or leads will be posted. People interested in helping can search for report number NR002548 or use this direct link on the NetPosse.com site: http://www.netposse.com/view_report.asp?reportid=2548

“Circulating Finneas’ flyer and the NetPosse.com Alert nationwide is imperative, as the horses could be anywhere by now. These flyers are one tool that brings home many horses and must be posted in as many public places as possible,” says Metcalfe. “And remember, not everyone has internet access. Please post Finneas’ flyer in public places as well.”

Pictures, flyer, contact informtion, updates and other information are on the NetPosse webpage to identify this case quickly when calling in a tip. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton County Animal Control, the owner or Stolen Horse International with information.
