Stolen Horse International Articles
Oklahoma Horse Owners Take Heed - There is growing concern regarding stolen andmissing horses in the state of Oklahoma, specifically Oklahoma County. Stolen Horse International, aka NetPosse, has processed several reports that seem to be more than coincidence. While NetPosse only receives a fraction of the estimated thousands of thefts each year, trends can be seen in data collected, and the amount of thefts in Oklahoma is alarming.
Tack Theft Article: Tack Theft Tips for Thought and I'M Not Special - Saddles and other tack account for a huge portion of equine crime, and tack theft has been a recurring problem in the United States and Canada. People living in rural communities continue to be singled out because of the large amounts of horse tack in their barns and trailers. Significant quantities of tack are stolen from horse trailers at home, shows or at other horse events.

NetPosse) November 2006
We're products of what happens to us. In 1998, when I first met Debi
Metcalfe, she'd recently become a one-woman posse. This is what happened:
Somebody had stolen her prized 12-year-old pleasure horse, Idaho, from a
pasture near Shelby. She was fighting mad. Metcalfe searched for the family
pet by going to horse sales and faxing fliers to traders and auctioneers
around the region. And she turned to the Internet, gradually building a
network of people willing to search for stolen horses. NetPosse, I called it
then. Read more here

YOUR
HORSE IS MISSING--WHAT NOW? - When our horse Idaho was
stolen in September 1997, I turned to the Internet for help. I was
unable to find any resources to help us in our search, so I
started gathering e-mail addresses and web sites to contact about
Idaho. Unknowingly this work started building a network of people
willing to assist in the search for stolen horses; that network is
now called Stolen Horse International. We recovered Idaho in
September 1998 in Tennessee after her flyer was seen on a
convenience store's door. MORE...
