Please allow up to 5 business days to process a report depending on the type and urgency. All cases are handled manually and are NOT uploaded automatically to the site. Urgent reports such as recent theft or missing horse will be processed as quickly as possible, including nights, weekends or holidays. Other cases will be handled as soon as possible. Please remember this is an all-volunteer organization. For horses that are missing in a bad sale or lease, if you do not have a written agreement you can provide, then we reserve the right to list the horse as searching for liability reasons.
Since SHI was founded, it has provided invaluable services free of charge to all victims. However operating expenses continue to increase and monies are needed to fund projects to ensure SHI's future existence and growth. SHI is funded by private donations and does not currently receive any type of grants or government funds. In order to offset the daily costs, there is now a minimal charge to file some reports. Please read
before filing reports: Incomplete or inaccurate forms
will be delayed in processing. Be sure to fill in all
required information. Stolen Horse Reports will not be
listed as stolen without required police information. If you
are under 18 years of age please have parents file report.
NOTICE: In many cases, horses and other property listed as stolen or missing are the subject
of a legal dispute. SHI receives the information it publishes from reports submitted to SHI by
third parties. Accordingly, SHI is not responsible for the accuracy or completeness of such
information. If you believe that information published by SHI is false or misleading, you may submit a
REBUTTAL REPORT.
Additionally, you may want to seek legal advice from an
attorney regarding your situation.
