Pets and Animal Victims of Natural Disasters

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by any type of disaster. As part of our ongoing commitment to help victims, NetPosse is aiding in the recovery of animals by allowing anyone who's lost or found an animal to file a report in our special Pet and Animal Disaster section at Disaster Missing Animals Report. Fill out our form, then email, if available, a picture of the horse to: stolenhorse@netposse.com. Just a reminder, pictures are a very important tool in identifying missing animals.

Like many of you, we feel overwhelmed at the images in the news and the needs of people who were affected by hurricanes, tornadoes, fire and floods. We can only try to understand the losses people, animals and property have sustained when disaster strikes their home.

We have seen the horrible destruction that can be caused by nature's forces. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by any disaster. As part of our ongoing commitment to help victims, NetPosse offers this page to victims to post horses and other missing pets.  Our main focus has always been horses, but in the aftermath of Katrina how can we forget the many other pets who need to find their way home. Now we open this page to disasters of all types.

The NetPosse.com lost and found pets will be reviewed before appearing on the website.  Listings are for people who have lost a pet and are searching and who have found one and wish to find its owner only.

Please contact stolenhorse@netposse.com with questions and comments.

Stolen Horse International to Help Reunite Horses and Owners in Wake of Hurricane Katrina

RELEASE DATE: September 2, 2005

Or Call: (334) 613-6276 or (334) 669-0933

SHELBY, NC--In an effort to provide aid to the people and organizations that are currently working to rescue horses in the areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina, Stolen Horse International (SHI), has established a link, Katrina's Missing Pets, on its website, www.netposse.com . The purpose of this link is to centralize Internet efforts in reuniting horses and owners. This is a FREE LISTING service!

"The images seen and the stories we have heard have consumed us in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. We would like to help the best we can. We invite anyone who is missing a horse or a pet to post their information on our site. We will be glad to assist rescues organizations by giving the animals a place to be seen by the public." said Debi Metcalfe, Foundation President.

Metcalfe continues, "Stolen Horse International does not have a team to send to the areas of devastation. This is our way of helping so that rescue crews can concentrate on finding and caring for the horses and other animals."

Stolen Horse International is currently accepting listings for all misplaced animals in all areas affected by the hurricane. We are requesting that organizations and individuals rescuing horses or those missing horses utilize these services in order to reunite horses and owners as quickly and efficiently as possible. We will also post other lost and found animals such as dogs and cats.

Since 1998, SHI, has worked tirelessly to promote education and prevention of horse theft, and aid in the recovery of stolen and missing horses. SHI has never charged victims for its services, and it will continue this mission for those affected by Natural Disasters.

If you have any questions or would like to make a donation, please call Angela Kirby, at (334)613-6276 (days) and (334)669-0933 (evenings).
