Name: Cocoa Gender: Mare Species: Horse Breed: American Appendix Description: I was going through a very difficult personal time and needed to find a temporary home for my horses. I rescued both of them and Cocoa has been with me for 17 years! A friend of mine spoke with a girl who was looking for a pasture mate for her barrel horse. I talked to her on several occasions and she told me she was a vet student and would take excellent care of them. My friend delivered them to her in July 2017 as I had moved to Florida from Georgia already. I periodically would text her to see how they were doing. I TOLD HER THAT THIS WAS TEMPORARY AND THAT I WOULD TAKE THEM BACK WHEN I COULD! I asked her for pictures and she only sent me pictures on July 7, 2017. I asked her for pictures in January and got no response. My guts knew something was wrong but I didn't listen to my instincts. I am beside myself....I want to know where they are and are they okay. I hate saying this but, what you describe sounds exactly like what the vet student at Auburn told people when she took their horses. That she needed a horse to keep her barrel horse company. She has been arrested but lots of people lost their horses to her. So sorry and hope I'm wrong.https://www.al.com/news/birmingham/2019/01/alabama-veterinary-student-arrested-at-rodeo-accused-of-selling-rescued-horses-to-slaughter.html
